(To spell love - Kenia Cris)

Para soletrar amor
toque o meu rosto
com um sorriso
e segure-me em
teus braços como
se não suportasse
deixar-me, como
se a vida fosse
só o tempo passando
porque afinal
é o que ela é:
tempo que perdemos
lentamente.

To spell love
touch my face
with smiling eyes
and hold me close
as if you couldn't
leave me,
as if life was
the time being
because in the end
it really is
and we're
slowly
losing it.

  6. Para falar de amor não basta tocar-te o rosto. É preciso olhar-te nos olhos e entra-te na alma.

  7. "as if life were the time being..." These words hit me the hardest: we seem always to be waiting for what is to come when me should be in the moment.. too much is lost.

  10. O amor é o único sentimento que não se importa fingir que é eterno.

  11. we wake up one day and realize that life was not the arrival that we spent our time waiting for ... it was each moment, followed by the next moment, and what a damned loss if we do not softly touch someone's face during the time being ...

i am interested in the different endings the poem(s) has in english and portuguese. not better or worse, but different, yes? such longing and potential for grief in this lingering, drawn-out "lentamente"....
